Some people prefer to host their Kajabi site on their own domain (ex. http://www.mycustomdomain.com), rather than on the Kajabi domain (ex. http://mykajabisubdomain.kajabi.com). You can do it either way, and you'll find instructions in this category.
In this article, we'll help you understand some of the terminology you'll come across as you explore setting up a custom domain or subdomain:
Custom Domain: This is your own domain, a unique web address using the name of your choice like www.myname.com or www.mybusinessname.com.
*Custom Domain Setup - if you want your Kajabi site to be on www.mycustomdomain.com, you can follow this guide.
Custom Subdomain: If you use your own domain (www.myname.com) for another purpose, you can still use that domain to host a Kajabi site if you use a subdomain (ex. club.myname.com and academy.myname.com are sub-domains of the myname.com domain).
*Custom Subdomain Setup - if you want your Kajabi site to be on subdomain.mycustomdomain.com, you can follow this guide.
Kajabi Subdomain: When you create a new project, you get to choose a subdomain of the Kajabi.com domain to place all the files (ex. yoursubdomain.kajabi.com). This is not related to the subdomain of your own custom domain.
Web Host: This is where your website's files and pages are stored and served. With Kajabi, we host all your Kajabi site's files and pages, so we act as a web host.
Host Record: used to map the domain name to the IP address of the host that serves your website
CNAME Record: an alias of another address (www.mycustomdomain.com is an alias of mykajabisubdomain.kajabi.com)
